  • Phi Mu Alpha
Sinfonia was born on October 6, 1898, at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, with a group of thirteen young men, under the guidance of Ossian Everett Millls. Their goal was to consider the social life of the young male students of the Conservatory and "to devise ways and means by which it might be improved." Mills, bursar of the Conservatory, sought to create an order in which men with the shared passion of music could develop virtues of brotherhood within themselves and their fellows. The Xi Omega chapter at Frostburg State University was chartered on April 1, 1966.
