Nancy (Fanny) Witmer is a graduate of Frostburg State University where she received a B.A. degree in music (piano performance) and a M.Ed. with a concentration in piano and organ pedagogy. Her teachers have included Masa Fukui at the University of Maryland and Henri-Paul Sicsic and Joan DeVee Dixon at FSU. She has also had instruction on the pipe organ from John Walker, a former organist at Riverside Church in New York City.

Active as a performer on both piano and organ, Ms. Witmer served as the Director of Music and organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Cumberland from 1997-2005. She is an active member of the local music community, frequently performing as an accompanist, guitarist and vocalist. As an adjunct faculty member of FSU, she teaches piano, music fundamentals, class piano, and introduction to world music. She also has a private studio and has taught piano and guitar for thirty five years.
