The African-American Studies Minor promotes ethnic awareness and provides students with the opportunity to explore and evaluate often over-looked elements of history. By enhancing the individual's ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultured world, the program helps to better position students to succeed in the complex world beyond college.

This program complements occupations and professions in many fields including Business, Criminal Justice, Economics, Education, English, Fine Arts, Geography, History, Law, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work, and the Sciences.
