Opportunities Volunteer: Student volunteers are required to contribute a minimum of five hours per week (including weekends) assisting with caretaking or caretaking/research. (Note that the Tamarin Colony is often in need of extra volunteers over the winter and summer breaks.)Those interested in volunteering should contact Dr. Kennedy and will be asked to fill out an application. Work-study: The Tamarin Colony has a limited number of state and federal work-study positions involving caretaking of the tamarins. Please check with Dr. Kennedy about the availability of these positions if you are eligible for work-study. Students interested in this option can register for Psyc 499: “Psychology Projects” under the direction of Dr. Kennedy. Students interested in this option should meet with Dr. Kennedy during the registration period to discuss possible projects. (Note that a limited number of students can sign up for this option per semester.) Related class: Those with a general interest in animal cognition can sign up for Psyc 490: “Animal Learning and Cognition”. This class examines the cognitive abilities of a variety of animal species, including tamarins and other primates.
