An Assistant Professor of Theatre at Frostburg State University, Nicole Mattis teaches Acting, Voice and Movement, Voice and Speech, and Dialects. Nicole’s credits include the premiere of Drowning, ensemble collaboration, as a visiting actor at the Central School for Speech and Drama in London. She also played the role of Lydia in the American premiere of Dimetos, by South African playwright Athol Fugard. A member of Actor's Equity, she recently performed roles in several Cumberland Theatre productions, including: The Diary of Anne Frank (Mrs. Frank), To Kill a Mockingbird (Mayella Ewell), Frankenstein (Elizabeth), and numerous roles in an annual production of A Christmas Carol. She has also performed with the Illinois Repertory Theatre; The Storefront Theatre; The Station Theatre; Texas Shakespeare Festival; and Timber Lake Playhouse. In October Mattis will perform the role of Myra in the Cumberland Theatre’s production of Deathtrap. A member of the Voice and Speech Trainer’s Association (VASTA), Mattis attends regular conferences and workshops, and recently earned certification as an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework (www.fitzmauricevoice.com). Nicole Mattis received her BA in Theatre and English from Northern Michigan University and her MFA in Theatre from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
