Gordon retired, after 24 years of service, as a First Sergeant from the United States Army. His duties included spending four years as the Senior Military Instructor of the Army ROTC Company at Frostburg State University. After his retirement he graduated from Frostburg with a degree in Theatre Design and Production, a minor in Graphic Design and a Certificate in Computer Technology. He has also received a Certified Riggers Certificate of Competency for Theatre and Arena Rigging from RIGSTAR Training and Testing Center in Northampton, Mass.
Since graduation he has served as the Facility Manager/Staff Technical Director for the Department of Theatre and Dance at California University of PA., Technical Director for the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater in Richmond, Virginia and is currently the resident Technical Director for West Virginia Public Theatre in Morgantown, West Virginia He also acts as a technical advisor for Windwood Productions of Paris Virginia. Gordon returned to Frostburg as the Production Manager/Lecturer in Technical Theatre.
Some of his credits include Set Designer for Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, Abundance, Eurydice, A Raisin in the Sun, Oklahoma, The Odd Couple, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, Smokey Joe’s Café, Les Miserables and bobrauschenbergamerica. Assistant Set Designer for Damn Yankees, The Women, Metamorphoses and Romeo and Juliet. Lighting Designer for The Importance of Being Earnest, Oklahoma, Anything Goes, and The Frostburg Dance Company.
Gordon is a member of the Pinnacle, The National Honor Society for non-traditional students, Alpha Psi Omega, The National Theatre Honor Society, and IATSE #578 in Morgantown, WV.
