When travelers visit China for the first time, they often bring back a variety of souvenirs: scarves, jasmine tea, designer knock-offs. But some souvenirs are intangible; they become gifts that people share with everyone they meet, for years to come – like seeing the world in a whole new way. These were the souvenirs that nine FSU students brought back from their spring break in China.

Wray Blair, associate vice president for Enrollment Management, loves meeting students and their parents who come from legacy families, those families who send multiple generations to Frostburg. “There is a very obvious sense of pride in the parents that their child may also have the ‘Frostburg experience,’” he said.

FSU senior Tylor Streett has made his mark climbing up, down and across walls around the region. Sometimes he’s upside-down, hands off-kilter and facing in opposite directions. Regardless of the way his body is contorted, there is one clear way his climbing career is headed: straight to the top of the mountain.

Now that the renewed Lane University Center has been back online for more than two months, the building is regaining its place as the hub of student life on campus. Brighter and more open, the building’s new look and amenities are getting overwhelmingly popular reviews from students and the building’s staff.

As part of Bobcat Athletics’ ongoing efforts to raise funds to upgrade the football and baseball locker rooms, alumni are invited to share their proud history and tradition with current student-athletes by purchasing lockers in the new facilities that will prominently display their names, graduation years and positions they played, or the name of a teammate or coach who inspired them.
