Ethnobotany Degree Program

The Bachelors of Science in Ethnobotany is one of only two programs in the US. Students can major or minor in the cultural uses of plants.
The interdisciplinary major allows students to integrate science and culture as a way of understanding human reliance on plants and the environment.
The Master of Science in Applied Ecology & Conservation Biology program within the Biology Department is a graduate program for students interested in conservation of ethnobotanically significant plants.
This program is part of the Open Science Network in Ethnobiology, an NSF-funded project for ethnobiology education

Open Science Network in Ethnobiology	A dynamic open science network promotes ethnobotanical education through the use of web-based technologies and the continual exchange of educational techniques, materials, and experiences across institutional and international borders.
Appalachian Center for Ethnobotanical Studies	A collaborative, inter-institutional effort devoted to the multidisciplinary study and conservation of native plants.
