(The Arum Family)
This is a family of herbaceous monocots. Most plants arise from a tuber or corm and the petiole is sheathed. Flowers are small with an erect spathe sheathing a fleshy spadix. Mostly fruits are berries but duckweeds are also in this family and differ somewhat. The majority of plants in this family are aquatic or prefer mesic conditions.
