Genus Description:

This genus consists of erect perennial herbs. The leaves are basal and cauline, with basal leaves deeply palmately divided. The cauline leaves are in 3s and opposite or whorled.  The flowers are solitary or form in cymes with a long peduncle and petal-like sepals. The fruit is generally a beaked achene.
