This is a genus containing only 2 species, tall trees with soft and light wood, and a conical crown. The leaves are simple and alternate, with 4-6 lobes and truncate to cordate bases and truncate to broadly notched apices. The flowers are solitary and located at the twig terminus. These flowers are large and have 3 petal-like sepals and 6 petals. The corolla is cup-shaped and the fruit is a cluster of samaras aggregated in a conical shape.
