This is a genus of only two species, with just one in North America, described here. This is a perennial herbaceous plant that is evergreen, trailing, and forms mats. The leaves are opposite and orbicular with entire margins and often lighter in color along the midrib. The flowers are white, delicate, and paired, later forming a single fused drupe fruit crowned with double calyx lobes.
