Genus Description:

This is a genus with just two species, one in North America. It is an erect perennial herb arising from a plump rhizome. The leaves are large and deeply lobed, they come in pairs on the flowering stems and singly on a non-flowering stem. The solitary nodding white flower is borne in the crotch of the two terminal leaves’ petioles. The fruit is a fleshy berry.
