Genus Description:

This is a genus of course herbs, shrubs, and small trees with opposite and pinnately to bipinnately compound leaves. The leaflets are serrate and the twigs are rank smelling with a large pith and prominent lenticils. The small flowers are borne in flat topped terminal cymes. The seeds are juicy berry-like drupes.
