A message from the Contributors
James Homer House, resident of Mt. Savage, MD., was born in Flintstone, MD. He graduated from Frostburg Normal School in 1927 and then earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Maryland. He began his teaching career in Finzel (Garrett County), MD.
Jim taught agriculture and science at Flintstone as well as several other high schools. He retired from Oldtown High School where he had taught industrial arts.
Jim loved growing fresh vegetables in his garden, the outdoors, and the rolling hills and countryside. His two daughters graduated from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel) and also became teachers. His three sisters graduated from Frostburg Normal School and also became teachers.
