Average Size: 55-100cm (21.6-39.3in) and weighs 80-175kg (176-386lbs)

Range/distribution Map

Habitat Description: Deciduous broad-leaf forests throughout all of Europe.

Behavior/ Diet: Omnivore. Berries, roots, worms, leaves, grasses, fruits, protein rich nuts (acorns). The wild boar will eat almost anything that goes into its mouth including eggs, mice, lizards, and snakes. Nocturnal. They spend 12 hours sleeping a day. Females are sociable living in groups of 6-20 while males are more solitary through the majority of the year.

Conservation Status: Least concern with the biggest threat in habitat loss.

Fun Fact:

Males have a top tusk to sharpen the bottom one.
