Average Size: 40 cm (16 inch) and weighs 11-16 kg (24-35lbs)

Average Lifespan: 10 years. 

Range/ Distribution Map

Habitat description: southern china and Taiwan in deciduous forests. 

Behavior/Diet: Herbivore eats fruit, bark, leaves, fungi, herbs. Also known as barking deer because of the sound they make when they are alert. Sociable in small herds. Active at dawn and dusk.

Conservation Status: listed as a least concern

Fun Fact:

They have tusks, similar to elephants, but much smaller.  These are used in defense rather than eating.
