Hometown: Hyattsville, Maryland
High School: Duval High School, Class of 2011
Frostburg State University was not one of my top college choices until after a visit there to see my sister: I got a chance to tour the campus, and the result? I developed a special bond with FSU, talk less of the beautiful mountainous scenery surrounding the university. The class sizes are small and the professors actually know their students by name and are interested in seeing them excel in everything they engage in. I also like the fact that I can run into somebody I know all the time and they’ll smile and ask me how my day is going. There's always something to do around campus, from sporting activities including hiking and snowboarding, to different extracurricular activities and Greek organizations. Not forgetting the fine dining spots around the town. I couldn’t have asked for a better school to further my education!
How I stay involved:
As a freshman, I was enrolled in the Americorps sponsored program ECHOSTARS; a program designed to allow students to give back to the community through volunteer service. I also was a member of Cumberland's Hall Council and was voted Vice President for the Spring semester. I became a Bobcat Ambassador because I want to be able to show prospective students what exactly Frostburg State University has to offer them.
Life after the Burg:
After Frostburg, I plan on interning at the National Institute of Health (NIH) to help carryout research on the cure for cancer. I also plan on earning my graduate degree as a Marriage and Family counselor as well as becoming a social activist for children around the world.
