U.S. Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.) spoke to FSU political science and communication studies students on April 17 about issues in government, including Congressional gridlock and gerrymandered voting districts, which he says exacerbates political polarization.

Frostburg State University has enrolled the largest number of students in the institution’s 116-year history, including its largest-ever transfer class, and a freshman class of 961 that is 7.1 percent higher than the previous year.

FSU’s MS in Applied Computer Science Now Available Fully Online

Starting with the spring 2015 semester, students will be able to earn a Master of Science in Applied Computer Science degree through Frostburg State University from almost anywhere. FSU recently received approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission to offer the program as a fully online degree option alongside the existing face-to-face program.

FSU Planetarium Shows Resume in University’s New CCIT Building

Frostburg State University’s planetarium shows have resumed in the University’s new Center for Communications and Information Technology. The planetarium programs are held on the ground floor, in the Multimedia Learning Center, each Sunday through Dec. 21 at 4 and 7 p.m. with programs changing each month. Each program runs about 45 minutes and is free and open to the public.

Frostburg State University’s online Master of Education, Special Education concentration, has been ranked a “Best Buy” by GetEducated.com, the consumer guide to online colleges, in its independent review of online master’s in the education and special education subject areas. FSU’s program ranked 21st on the special education rankings among all competing options nationwide.

FSU Honors Three With Staff Awards for Excellence

Frostburg State University honored three outstanding employees, Blair Knouse, Linda Lewis and Alan “Ike” Eichhorn, at its recent Fall Convocation. The annual Staff Awards for Excellence recognize outstanding service to the institution, and the recipients are nominated and chosen by their colleagues. This year’s award winners have a combined 51 years of service to FSU.

Frostburg State University’s Department of Visual Arts will present “En Plein Air en Studio,” an exhibition of paintings by FSU alumni David Diaz and Linda Humbertson, Friday, Sept. 5, through Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery in FSU’s Fine Arts Building. The opening reception will be held on Sept. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
