Dr. Yan Bao, an associate professor in the Frostburg State University Department of Accounting, has been awarded the Regents’ Faculty Award for Teaching, the highest honor that the University System of Maryland Board of Regents bestows to recognize exemplary faculty achievement. She will be honored at the April 10 meeting of the board.
This March, the Frostburg State University Chamber Choir will have the unique opportunity of traveling to Italy, where for eight days they will perform at a variety of venues in Florence, Rome, Perugia and Assisi. They will perform compositions by American and European composers as well as an unpublished work, “Madrigale Mille,” by a friend of the Chamber Choir, contemporary Italian composer Manolo da Rold.
Frostburg State University’s newest academic building, the Center for Communications and Information Technology (CCIT), had its grand opening on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with a virtual version of the traditional ribbon cutting created by FSU faculty and students, in keeping with the building’s technological focus.
Dr. Sydney Duncan, chair of the Department of English at Frostburg State University and an associate professor in the department, has been selected as the third recipient of the President’s Distinguished Faculty Award from FSU President Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, an award he established to recognize and encourage those faculty members who advance the University’s mission and goals and its strategic planning initiatives.
Campus sexual violence is an important issue that Frostburg State University takes very seriously. The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is currently reviewing the University's policies and practices related to Title IX of the Education Amendment Acts of 1972, which is the federal law that prohibits sexual harassment and sexual violence.
Representatives from OCR will be on campus on Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9 to conduct focus group sessions in conversation with the campus community on issues related to sexual harassment and sexual violence. OCR will also be available to speak privately with anyone regarding these issues, or to anyone who is a survivor of sexual violence or sexual harassment who may wish to speak with OCR.
