Over the past 48 hours, I have heard from people who have expressed encouragement, support, sorrow and dismay in response to the terrible tragedy that has affected Frostburg State University. I have also heard from individuals who are very upset and who want answers. I am reaching out because like you, I am deeply concerned and incredibly saddened by the violence that has shaken Frostburg this past weekend. I share your outrage, your alarm and your grief–?as does our entire campus community–?that something like this has happened again.

Dear FSU Faculty, Staff and Students:

It is with much sadness that I must tell you that one of our beloved students, Kortneigh McCoy, died early this morning from injuries sustained as the result of an assault off-campus before 2 a.m. Sunday morning. We offer our deepest condolences to Kortneigh's family and friends, and we ask you to keep them in your thoughts and prayers and offer them support in these difficult days to come. (click for more)

Memorial Vigil Scheduled in Memory of Evan Kullberg and Alyssa Salazar on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m.
Frostburg State University’s Student Government Association and Greek Council have organized a memorial vigil in memory of Evan Kullberg and Alyssa Salazar on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Cordts Physical Education Center Main Arena. The FSU campus community is welcome to attend.

A Message from President Gibralter
Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Friends of Frostburg State University,

Frostburg State University continues to come together to share the sorrow that has struck Virginia Tech, and to support those who have been deeply affected by this tragedy. In addition, the University is reviewing its crisis intervention plans to make sure we are doing all we can to protect the members of our own community.
