Activities for Life at Frostburg State University will hold tumbling classes for beginning, intermediate and advanced students. All tumbling classes are held in Cordts Physical Education Center Room 170 and are limited to 15 participants with a minimum of seven. Payment and registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 18.
The beginner tumbling class is for children ages 5 to 12 and will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 21 through Nov. 18. The class will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. and will include basic floor tumbling exercises and some work on the low balance beam.
The intermediate tumbling class will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 21 to Nov. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. Intermediate class requirements are a solid cartwheel and working toward a solid round off. Athletes in this class will develop skills that work toward a back handspring, such as handstand holds, forward rolls, snap down, jump-backs on a cheese mat, right/left side cartwheels, one-armed cartwheels, aerials with spot, backbend kick over with spot and front handspring over a barrel.
The advanced tumbling class will meet during the intermediate tumbling time, Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Advanced class requirements are a solid round off working toward a solid standing back handspring and a solid round off back handspring series. Advanced students will work on round off back handspring tucks, round off tucks, standing tucks and punch fronts.
