John Cariani’s “Almost, Maine” opens Frostburg State University Theatre’s student-directed series, Second Stage, on Friday, Feb. 22, and Saturday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the F. Perry Smith Studio Theatre of the Performing Arts Center. Cariani will converse with the audience following the Feb. 23 performance.
The play, which is set in the mythical town of Almost, Maine, explores the mysteries of the human heart as residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected, unusual and amusing ways.
“Almost, Maine,” Cariani’s first play, was inspired by his hometown, Presque Isle, Maine. Also an actor, Cariani has a recurring role on the television show “Law & Order.” In 2004, Cariani received the Outer Critics Circle Award for the Best Featured Actor and a Tony nomination for his performance in “Fiddler on the Roof.”
