GROVE CITY, Pa.
— For the first time in ten years, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference swimming and diving championships took place at the Grove City Invitational, after day one on Thursday.
Both the men and the women are ranked eighth overall and third in the AMCC after the first day of the three-day event.
The Bobcats placed ninth in the women’s 200-yard freestyle relay, with a time of 1:51.61. The team consisted of senior Megan Falls (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional), junior Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), and sophomores Mindy Yost (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) and Michelle Nash (Columbia, Md./Hammond).
The same team competed in the 400-yard medley relay, crossing the finish line in seventh place (4:51.52).
On the men’s side, the 200-yard freestyle relay team, comprised of junior Brandon Thorton (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills (Howard CC), freshmen Matt Horton (Centerville, Va./Westfield), Scott Gantz (Silver Spring, Md./Blake), and Griffen Williams (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill) finished ninth with a time of 1:37.78.
They also placed seventh in the 400-yard medley relay (4:05.59).
Individually, Williams competed in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 16th (5:14.56).
