He has been called "the Baron of Bad Taste," "the Pope of Trash" and "the Sultan of Sleaze." Now acclaimed and campy moviemaker John Waters will discuss all forms of shock value in film at Frostburg State University.
The FSU Campus Activities Board will present an evening lecture with Waters on Wednesday, Nov. 15th at 7 p.m. in the Manicur Assembly Hall of the campus Lane Center. The event is free and open to the public. Waters will discuss all forms of shock value in film - the beauty of "good bad taste," his crackpot obsessions and his vision of worldwide trashiness in all forms of entertainment.
From his notorious "Pink Flamingos" to "Polyester" in Odorama to the more mainstream "Hairspray," "Serial Mom" and "Cecil B. DeMented," Waters' films have spanned over three decades of "good bad taste." His views on censorship and society are hit upon in a unique way during his presentation that will make audiences laugh at the absurdity of what society has deemed as right vs. wrong.
