Arts Council, FSU to Present Trio of Workshops and Concerts
The Allegany Arts Council and Frostburg State University-Music Department will present ”Vocal Trilogy,” a series of workshops and concerts.
Patricia Kelby, voice instructor at FSU, and Judith Brown, director of music at the Presbyterian Church, will lead “Finding Your Voice 101,” a vocal workshop to learn and resurrect the fundamentals of good singing. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church, 11 Washington St., Cumberland.
“Bella Voce,” an evening of beautiful music written for soprano and mezzo-soprano voices, will be Saturday, Sept. 16, at 8 p.m. in Pealer Recital Hall in the Performing Arts Center. The program will include everything from Puccini and Delibes’ “Flower Duets” to a cycle of Cuban songs. Myra Garcia, soprano, Patricia Kelby, mezzo- soprano, and Judith Brown, piano, will perform.
“Master Class” will be led by Kelby, who will conduct a vocal master class where students present a prepared piece on Monday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m. in Pealer Recital Hall.
“Finding Your Voice 101” is $20 per person, or $15 for FSU students and Arts Council members. Both “Bella Voce” and “Master Class” are free and open to the public.
