lCLEARWATER, FL - The Frostburg State baseball team concluded its spring break trip to Tampa, Florida with a 13-5 loss to North Central (Ill.) College on Tuesday afternoon.

North Central used a seven-run sixth inning to take a comanding lead as they scored its runs on three singles, a triple, two walks, four wild pitches, a defensive error and a pitchers throwing error.

In the first inning, the Bobcats threatened by getting the first two batters on via eight straight balls, but stranded them on a double-play followed by a strikeout.

However, the Bobcats rallied as they loaded the bases with no outs on two walks and a hit batter. sophomore Kyle Mahan (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) then got an RBI-walk to bring in the first run. A failed attempt at a squeeze play lead to a double-play, but then an infield single by freshman Chris Jones (Towson, Md./Towson) tied the score at 2-2.

In the third, North Central scored two more as they got a error, a sacrifice fly and a two-out double to take a 4-2 lead and end the day for Bobcat starter freshman Frank Sutton (Clarksburg, W.Va./Robert C. Byrd) , who went three innings giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits.

In the bottom of the fourth the Bobcats once again got two runners on with no out and sacrificed them into scoring position. Mahan then reached on an error, scoring one but the rally ended on another base running error by the Bobcats.

Replacing Sutton was senior Chris McGarvey (Fallentimber, Pa./Glendale) who allowed two runs, one unearned.

In the bottom of the fifth the Bobcats tied the game on a two-run double by junior Scott Feller (Boca Rotan, Fla./American Heritage) , who extended his career-high hitting streak to 13-games.

Jones also showed patience at the plate going 1-2 with three walks from the lead off position.
