FSU answered in the fifth with a pair of runs to tie the score at 2-2. Junior Allen Peake (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) led off the inning with a double to left field. Peake scored when the next batter, Daddura, doubled down the right field line. Daddura later scored on an error by Greensboro’s third baseman.
With the score still knotted at 2-2 heading into the eighth, Frostburg State scored five runs to take a 7-2 lead. Freshman Andrew Derr (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) reached base with a leadoff error and advanced to second on a sac bunt by sophomore Bryan Short (Ashburn, Va./Paul VI). After junior Andrew Speights (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and Peake were walked to load the bases, Daddura singled up the middle plating Derr and Speights to give the Bobcats a 4-2 lead. Holmes then hit a three-run homer to right field scoring Daddura and Peake to push the FSU lead to 7-2.
