— The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has highlighted four Frostburg State baseball players to watch this upcoming spring.
Senior pitcher Billye Hollsiter (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone), junior outfielder Chris Jones (Baltimore, Md./Towson) and sophomore outfielder Andrew Speights (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and sophomore catcher Ryan Webb (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) have all been listed as some of the top players in NCAA Division III.
Hollister, the reigning Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Co-Player of the Year, was 7-3 with a 1.75 ERA with a team-leading 80 strikeouts last spring.
Jones earned first team honors after hitting .370 with 36 runs and tying for the league lead with 23 steals. He led all FSU outfielders with a .980 fielding percentage and 50 putouts.
Speights, the 2005 AMCC Newcomer of the Year, was also a first team selection leading the Bobcats with 40 RBIs and 53 hits. He was also second on the squad with 11 doubles a .390 batting average.
Webb led FSU last spring with a .615 slugging percentage and finished second with a .476 on-base percentage. He also had a .369 batting average including 23 RBIs.
Frostburg State finished the 2005 campaign with a 29-13 overall record.
