Baseball Runs Winning Streak to Nine with Sweep of SUNY-Farmingdale
04/19/2003

FARMINGDALE, NY — Frostburg State swept a doubleheader from host SUNY-Farmingdale, 10-0 and 7-0, Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (25-8-1) extended their winning streak to nine games and have won 15 of their last 17 contests.

In the opener, sophomore Billye Hollister (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) improved to 5-0 on the season by holding the Rams (4-9) to just six hits in a game called after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Hollister struck out seven and walked just two for his third complete-game victory of the year.

Frostburg State jumped on the board in the top of the first on an RBI-single by sophomore Scott Feller (Coral Springs, Fla./American Heritage) and a run-scoring double by junior Taylor Dixon (Fairfax, Va./Robinson).

The Bobcats then added four more runs in the second. Junior Sean Davis (Olney, Md./Sherwood) laced a two-run triple and Feller followed with a two-run home run — his team-leading seventh of the year — to give FSU a commanding 6-0 lead.

The visitors tacked on four more runs over the final three innings with help from three Farmingdale errors.

Feller led FSU's 11-hit attack, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Davis was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, while senior Mark Teson (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) crossed the plate three times.

The Bobcats opened another early lead in game two, scoring three times in the first inning. Sophomore Chris Baugher (Frederick, Md./Brunswick) drove in a run with a single, and FSU plated two more runs on a Dixon single combined with another Farmingdale error.

FSU increased its lead to 5-0 in the fourth. Senior Bobby Farmer (Rockville, Md./Wheaton) singled and senior Tim Wilkins (Baltimore, Md./Mervo) was hit by a pitch. Teson then singled to score Farmer, and Wilkins later came home on a double steal.

In the fifth, Feller and Baugher started the inning with back-to-back singles, and Feller scored on a failed pick-off attempt. Dixon later hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Baugher and make it a 7-0 contest.

That would be more than enough for FSU junior Dan Sidorowicz (Leonardtown, Md./St. Mary's Ryken), who scattered five hits and struck out six over seven innings to improve to 4-1 on the year.

The Bobcats return to action on Thursday when they visit Mt. Aloyius for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
