Fourteen students – four graduate and 10 undergraduate students – were recently inducted into Frostburg State University’s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society, during the fall 2011 semester.
Beta Gamma Sigma provides the highest recognition a business student can receive in an undergraduate or graduate program. Its mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the society and to serve its lifelong members.
The FSU chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma was established after the College of Business received Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International accreditation in 2005. Only AACSB-accredited schools can have Beta Gamma Sigma chapters.
The new members of the FSU chapter are MBA students Melinda Duckworth from Cumberland, Md.; Aaron Hirtzel from Huntingdon, Pa.; Jie Li from Changsha, China; and Christopher Maley from Boynton, Pa. Senior members include Matthew Clise, an accounting major from Lonaconing, Md.; Laura Harosky, a business major from Middletown, Md.; Robert Ketterman, an accounting major from Frostburg, Md.; and Hannah Schott, an economics major from Meyersdale, Pa. Junior members are Trevor DeVore, a business major from Grantsville, Md.; Amanda Grabenstein, a business major from Cumberland, Md.; Cody Morton, an accounting major from Westernport, Md.; Donald Ross, a business major from Frostburg, Md.; Josh Sparks, an accounting major from Frostburg, Md.; and Caleb Stair, an economics major from Hyndman, Pa.
Among the many membership requirements, a student’s cumulative GPA must be in the top 10 percent of juniors, seniors and master’s students.
