FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State University head women’s volleyball coach Jeff Billington
became the winningest coach in the program’s history when his squad defeated Mary Washington 3-0 last Friday in the Washington & Lee Invitational.
Billington is now 76-35 overall in just over three seasons, surpassing the previous mark of 72 wins set by Jen Bowman (72-9) in 1998 and 1999.
Billington has led the Bobcats to two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular-season titles, two AMCC Tournament championships and back-to-back undefeated 12-0 records in the conference over the last two seasons.
He is also a two-time AMCC Coach of the Year and has guided the Bobcats to the NCAA Tournament each of the past two seasons. Billington has coached 11 all-conference players, including two-time AMCC Player of the Year Lauren Petrick.
“This honor is a tribute to the great players who I have coached over the past three-plus years,” said Billington, a 1984 graduate of Frostburg State. “It’s great to see an alumnus capture the record.”
The Bobcats are 6-3 on the season and host the Second Annual ASICS Maryland Division III Collegiate State Volleyball Tournament this weekend.
