The Bobcat women's tennis team captured the top five singles flights in straight-sets en route to a 6-3 win over Pitt-Greensburg, 6-3, at the Greensburg Racket Club on Monday.
Greensburg opened a 2-1 lead after three close doubles matches. Juniors Christina Miserandino (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Becky Allnutt (Frederick, Md./Catoctin) teamed for an 8-5 win at the No. 1 position before the hosts took 9-7 and 8-5 wins at the second and third flights, respectively.
The Bobcats then broke the match open with strong singles play. Miserandino edged Angela Christy, 7-6 (7-3) in their opening set before turning in a 6-3 win in the second set to claim the victory. Allnutt then followed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the second flight, and junior Kathy Arnold (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Kristen Schotting at the No. 3 spot.
Junior Laura Efird (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) added a 7-5, 6-2 win over Jacque Billheimer before freshman Kayce Kerr (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) capped the Bobcats' scoring with a 6-4, 6-3 defeat of Jesse Hilland at No. 5 singles.
The Bobcats, who improved to 6-7 overall and 4-4 in the AMCC, close out their regular season Thursday at home versus Waynesburg.
