Penn State Behrend used three first-half goals by three different players to build a 3-1 halftime lead and held off Frostburg State, 5-4, to win their fourth straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship.
Freshman Jessica Linkins (Sudlersville, Md./Queen Annes) had a hat-trick in defeat for the Bobcats, who end their season with an 11-7 overall record.
The Lions (16-4) got on the board early as Michelle Gutting scored just two minutes into the game. Frostburg State tied the contest when Linkins scored her first goal of the game 12 minutes later on an assist from senior Brooke Middleton (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone).
Behrend then added two goals in a seven-minute span to take a 3-1 halftime lead.
Laura Furko scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 66th minute to give the Lions a 4-1 lead before the Bobcats fought back on Linkins' two goals in a three-minute clip to close the gap to 4-3.
The Lions added another goal in the 80th minute to take a 5-3 advantage before junior Amy Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) scored with two minutes remaining to end the scoring.
Freshman Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) started in goal and made six saves in the first half before giving way to Jessica Richardson (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone), who stopped three shots in the second half.
