Bobcats Fall to No. 12 St. Mary's in Regular-Season Finale

St. Mary's scored four goals in a three-minute span of the second half and held off Frostburg State, 14-10, in the regular-season finale for both teams Tuesday afternoon.
Frostburg State (8-5) trailed 5-2 at halftime before senior Darla Burns scored three straight goals in just under two minutes to pull the Bobcats even with 27:14 left in the game.
St. Mary's (11-3), ranked No. 12 in Division III, countered with four consecutive scores and built a 12-6 advantage with 12:10 remaining.
Bobcat senior Heather Brown scored three of her game-high four goals in the closing 10 minutes of play to bring FSU to within 13-9, but the clubs traded tallies in the final moments.
Junior Danielle Foote capped the Frostburg State scoring with 57 seconds remaining.
Burns finished with three goals and two assists. FSU freshman Sarah Shockley (4-4) made 10 saves in the loss.
Kathy Holmes led the Seahawks with three goals and three assists, while Meg McFall added three goals as well.
The Bobcats will now await a possible second-straight bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championship.
FSU fell in last year's first round to eventual champion Ithaca, 10-7.
