FAIRFAX, Va. —
Senior Brian Bonn (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie)
set the Frostburg State school record in the 800-meter run this past Saturday at the George Mason University Collegiate Open Invitational.
His time of 1:54.72 eclipsed the previous mark of 1:55.73 set by Noel Cyrus in 1983.
Bonn currently owns the 13th-fastest time in the 800-meter run in Division III this season.
Bonn continues his season this Sunday at the Mason-Dixon Conference Indoor Championships where he looks to defend his 800-meter title. He captured last year’s crown with a time of 1:58.59.
“Brian has been giving us strong performances each of the last two weekends and I am pleased with his development over the course of the season,” said Bobcat Head Coach Felix Moreno. “Coach Randy Lowe is doing an excellent job getting him prepared for the national championship. I am certain Brian will excel there. He will be impressive at this weekend’s conference meet.”
