MEDFORD, MASS. —
Junior Travis Bouldin (Greensboro, Md./North Caroline)
finished fourth in the triple jump and junior Maria Ferguson (Fairmount Heights, Md./Laurel)
placed seventh in both the 55- and 400-meter dashes to place the Frostburg State track and field teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships this past weekend at Tufts University.
The FSU men scored five points to tie for 32nd with Richard Stockton, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Medgar Evers, Trinity, while the the Bobcat women scored four points to tie for 41st with Gettysburg, Westfield State and Widener.
Bouldin accounted for all of FSU's points after turning in a distance of 13.76 meters in the triple jump.
Freshman Andrew Hackett (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler) added a 14th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.71 meters, but only the top eight score team points.
Freshman Matt Morgan (Frostburg, Md./Beall) finished 27th in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:09.51 to round out the men's performances.
On the women's side, Ferguson scored all four FSU points with her two seventh-place finishes. She ran the 55-meter dash in 7.31 seconds and added a 58.96 showing in the 400-meter dash.
Senior Serena Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler) also competed in the 55- and 200-meter dashes. She placed 15th in the 200 in 26.81 seconds but did not qualify for the finals in the 55.
Ferguson and Wheeler later teamed with sophomores Lynnea Finch (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) and Mysel Abrokwah (Takoma Park, Md./Blair) for a 15th-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, lowering their best time to 4:09.02.
Senior Cindy Reese (Westminster, Md./Westminster) recorded no height in the pole vault, while freshman Tredia Howell (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) failed to make height in the high jump.
