CENTERVILLE, Mass. —
Frostburg State junior first baseman Trish Brown (Manchester, Md./North Carroll)
and sophomore outfielder Lori Potts (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley)
were named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Southern Softball All-Star Team Thursday.
This marks the first time that two Bobcats have been selected to the ECAC All-Star squad. FSU has had a single representative five other years.
Brown earned first-team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference honors after finishing second on the Bobcats with a .425 batting average and leading FSU with 48 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs, a school-record 38 RBIs and a .673 slugging percentage.
She also posted a stellar .988 fielding percentage, making just three errors in 254 chances.
Brown became FSU’s all-time leader in hits (130), home runs (12), RBIs (92) and total bases (207) this season, and her current .426 career batting average ranks first as well.
Potts was voted to the All-AMCC first team for the second consecutive season after leading the Bobcats with a .448 batting average and 17 walks.
She tied Brown for the team lead in doubles (10) and ranked second on the squad in runs (27), hits (43), triples (2), total bases (57), slugging percentage (.594) and on-base percentage (.492).
Potts was also 4-5 with a 3.32 ERA in the circle.
“Trish and Lori both had exceptional years, and it is a nice honor for them to receive,” said Bobcat Head Coach Wes Landrum. “They are great representatives for our university and softball program, and it will be great to have both of them back next season.”
The Bobcats finished 17-19 overall and 11-7 in the AMCC. FSU advanced to the AMCC Tournament for the third straight year, beating Hilbert 14-0 in the play-in round before dropping 4-2 contests to top-seeded La Roche and sixth-seeded Penn State Behrend.
