GIBSONIA, Pa. —
Junior outfielder Brian Burke (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst (LIU))
and freshman pitcher Aaron Main (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick)
have been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, Monday.
Burke helped the Bobcats to a 3-1 start in the AMCC this past week. He hit .357 , 5-for-14 from the plate, and was a perfect 6-of-6 in stolen base attempts. Last Monday, Burke recorded the game-winning RBI double that lifted FSU past Penn State Behrend, 2-1.
For the season, Burke leads the conference in stolen bases (15), ranks second in homeruns (2) and third in total bases (33) and is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak.
Main improved his overall record to 4-2 on the season with a pair of AMCC victories last week. Main tossed a complete game and struck out 11 batters in FSU’s 11-4 win over Penn State Behrend. This past Saturday, he pitched another complete game fanning four while holding Lake Erie to just one run on five hits.
For the season, Main leads the league in strikeouts (46) and is fourth in ERA (1.98).
FSU returns to the field on Tuesday when it travels to Penn State Altoona for a doubleheader at 1:00 pm.
