Frostburg State University will host its 2013 Homecoming from Thursday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 27. The weekend will combine FSU’s spirited traditions of past and present with Homecoming activities for all to enjoy. Everyone is encouraged to come out and celebrate, welcome back FSU alumni and participate in the many scheduled events for the weekend.
Homecoming begins on Thursday, Oct. 24, with the Retired Employees Luncheon at noon in Lane University Center’s Atkinson Room. Afterward, show some school spirit at the Pep Rally, sponsored by the Student Government Association, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Main Arena of the Cordts Physical Education Center.
On Friday, Oct. 25, students can network with alumni who are working in the fields they aspire to during the campus-wide Career Expo from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, contact Donna Sivic, Career Services, at 301-687-4403 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
At 5 p.m. in the Cordts PE Center Main Arena, join the Bobcat Hall of Fame Cocktail Hour, Induction Ceremony and Dinner to welcome five new inductees, commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the 1973 Women’s Lacrosse team, celebrate the accomplishments of all pre-Title IX female athletes and honor legacy coaches Sharon Irwin, Nancy Crawley and Barb Surgent. Cost is $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and younger.
Catch up with the President’s Leadership Circle Reunion at 3 to 5 p.m. in the Lane Center’s South Addition. For more information, contact Clarissa Lang at 301-687-4210 or email@example.com. Later, head over to the Manicur Assembly Hall at 9 p.m. to laugh out loud during the Black Student Alliance Comedy Night. Cost is $7 for FSU students and $12 for non-students.
Get off to a great start on Saturday, Oct. 26, with the Jim Anderson Memorial Baseball Breakfast. The event, co-sponsored by the Frostburg Baseball Alumni Association, will be located in the Manicur Assembly Hall from 8 to 11 a.m. Cost is $20 per person and $10 for children ages 12 and younger. Or begin the day with the College of Business Student Pride Breakfast at 9 to 11 a.m. in Lane Room 111.
After breakfast, update contact information, leave a note for fellow alumni and register for awesome prizes at the Lane Welcome Center from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available throughout the event. Then take a tour of the FSU campus at 11 a.m., starting in the Lane Center Upper Lobby. From 11 a.m. through 12:45 p.m., stop by the stadium lot for tailgating as well as the alumni tent for giveaways, refreshments and food.
At 12:45 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium, participate in the U.S. Military Recognition, part of the Capt. James A. Graham ’63 Memorial Project. Acknowledge the dedication of key volunteers and have a moment of silence to recognize the men and women who have and continue to serve this country. Col. John Graham ’85 will assist in the coin toss at 1 p.m. to start the football game between FSU and Alfred University. The 1973 Frostburg State College Show Band “Kittenettes and Majorettes” will also be honored, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of being nationally recognized by the NFL. Admission is free.
Appreciate regional art from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Fine Arts Stephanie Roper Gallery during the “Subrural” Art Exhibition, a collaborative installation by artists Jenn Figg, Matthew McCormack and Karen Snouffer. Following that, mind your feet from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Cordts PE Center main arena during the Step Show, co-sponsored by the FSU Alumni Association and Office of Student Activities. Join fellow Bobcats from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the LUC for Frostburg Finale, a fabulous night of music, games and camaraderie. The event, sponsored by the FSU Alumni Association, features the band “Driven to Clarity,” a DJ to mix and match the music, karaoke from “Sight and Sound Entertainment,” a photo booth, arcade games, creation stations, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Homecoming events for Sunday, Oct. 27, begin at 9:30 a.m. in LUC’s Atkinson Room with the Alumni Association Board of Directors Meeting.
