CES Jazz Series Presents Chris Vadala
04/20/2006

The Frostburg State University Cultural Events Series Jazz Series, sponsored by Kaufman Music, presents Chris Vadala at the Windsor Hall at Town Centre located at 39 Baltimore Street in Cumberland on Saturday, May 6. Show times are 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.

One of the country’s foremost woodwind artists, fluent on both clarinet and saxophone, Vadala had performed and recorded with jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, B.B. King, Chick Corea, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Sarah Vaughn. His long tenure with the Chuck Mangione Quartet took him to all 50 states and to 21 countries across the globe. He has been a “Downbeat” reader’s poll finalist in four categories and his debut solo CD, “Out of the Shadows,” is garnering rave reviews.

This performance is sponsored in part by Marc DiNola, DDS, along with Selmer Instruments, and in part by grants from the Maryland State Arts Council, funded in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts; and in part by the Allegany Arts Council with funds from the Maryland State Arts Council. The Chris Vadala performances are presented in partnership with the Cumberland Jazz Society’s Weekend of Jazz.
