The Frostburg State men's and women's track and field teams participated at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, this past weekend.
Junior Jessica Clingan (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) had the best performance for FSU. She captured third in the 100-meter hurdles (15.59) and ninth in both the 100-meter dash (12.73) and 400-meter hurdles (1:06.74). The latter two events were season-best times and ECAC qualifying times.
Sophomore Jennifer Patton (Barton, Md./Westmar) was the only other women to compete for the Bobcats. She was 60th in the 5,000-meter run in 19:30.09.
Junior sprinter David Cheeks (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) had the best showing for the men. He was eighth in the 100-meter dash (11.21) and 19th in the 200-meter dash (23.13).
Sophomore Brian Leiter (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) ran a season best and qualified for the ECAC’s with a ninth-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:54.44).
Sophomore Tade Turton (Pittsville, Md./Riverside) was 23rd in the 200-meter dash (23.35) and 24th in the 100-meter dash (11.46).
Senior Andy Watson (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) was 78th in the 5,000-meter run in a season best in 15:36.55.
Freshman Michael O’Brien (Baltimore, Md./Arundel) was 14th in the high jump with a height of 1.84 meters (6ft., 0.5 in.).
The FSU track & field teams return to action next Saturday at the Mason-Dixon Invitational on the campus of Gettysburg College.
