- Junior Sean Davis (Sherwood/Olney, Md.)
was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the week of April 21st – 28th. Davis boosted his batting average nearly 20 percentage points in one week, with a 5-for-6 (.833) performance with three walks at the plate in a 3-0 week for the 29th ranked Bobcats, who are currently riding a 13-game winning streak.
His two-run homer sparked a late-inning comeback win versus Penn State Altoona in non-conference play on Sunday. He finished the week with five RBI and was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts.
To celebrate his AMCC Player of the Week honor, Davis continued to shine on Monday against Juniata, as he went 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run in the fifth. He also drove in five, scored three times, stole two bases, was hit by a pitch and had a sacrifice fly.
Davis now leads the team in batting average (.435), hits (54), RBI (39), triples (5), total bases (85), hit by pitch (8, tied with Dave Sanchez), stolen bases (20, tied with Mark Teson) and sacrifice flies (4, tied with Ryan Hamerski). He also ranks second in doubles (12) and extra base hits (20).
Davis will look to take his late season surge into the AMCC conference tournament this weekend as the Bobcats will travel to host Penn State Behrend and begin play Friday, May 2, 2003 against Pitt-Bradford at noon.
