GIBSONIA, PA —
Frostburg State had eight runners named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Cross Country Teams, the league announced Thursday.
Five Bobcat men earned all-conference honors, led by freshman Curt Ruble (Mineral Wells, W.Va./Parkersburg South), who was voted the Runner of the Year after winning the individual title with a time of 28:42.
FSU Head Coach Randy Lowe was chosen the Men’s Coach of the Year for the fourth straight year after leading the Bobcats to their fourth consecutive AMCC championship.
Junior Sid Bittinger (Midland, Md./Westmar), who placed third in 29:30, took home All-AMCC honors for the third time in as many years, while senior Brian Bonn (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie), who finished fifth in 29:42, was an All-AMCC selection for the second year in a row.
Sophomores Andy Watson (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and Lee McCloskey (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) were named to their first all-conference team. Watson placed seventh at the AMCC Championships in 29:55, while McCloskey was ninth in 30:00.
Three FSU women earned All-AMCC honors.
Sophomore Bonnie Axman (Burke, Va./James Robinson) was a repeat selection after finishing third at the AMCC Championships in 26:38.
Freshman Katie Lyell (Newark, Del./Newark) earned her first all-conference award with her ninth-place showing (28:02), while junior Carolyn Kilkus (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) added her third straight All-AMCC honor after finishing 10th (28:04).
Frostburg State, which was seeking its third straight title and seventh crown in eight years, did not place in the team standings because it finished only four of the required five runners.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, November 13 in the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships to be held at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa.
