Frostburg State sophomore Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) and senior Kirk Gibson (Myersville, Md./Middletown) have been named to the 2001 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team.
Faust, a forward/center for the Bobcat women's basketball team, was named the AMCC Player of the Year after averaging 21.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. She tied for 15th in the country in scoring and tied for 27th in rebounding.
An ECAC Division III Southern All-Star second team selection, Faust posted 14 double-doubles and set a Bobcat single-game record with 19 field goals en route to a career-high 39 points against Lake Erie.
Faust, who owns a 3.25 grade point average in biology, was named the AMCC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week three times and the ECAC Division III Southern Region Player of the Week twice during the season. She also claimed three All-Tournament team honors.
Frostburg State finished 7-18 overall and 3-9 in the AMCC.
Gibson, a forward on the Bobcat men's soccer team, was voted the AMCC Player of the Year and as well as to the NSCAA Adidas Division III All-South Atlantic Region third team after setting a single-season school record with 52 points on 18 goals and 16 assists. Gibson finished sixth in Division III with 0.80 assists per game, 11th with 2.60 points per game and 30th with 0.90 goals per game.
Gibson, who carries a 3.11 grade point average in health fitness, was named the AMCC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week four times and helped lead Frostburg State to a 16-5 overall record.
The Bobcats captured both the AMCC regular-season and tournament championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated Bethany (W.Va.), 2-1, in the first round before falling to Washington & Lee (Va.), 4-1.
