Faust Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
06/04/2004

FROSTBURG, MD - Former Frostburg State standout Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) has been awarded a NCAA Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics.

Faust, who will pursue her master’s degree in exercise science at Syracuse University, will receive a $6,000 award for the 2004-05 academic year.

Faust, one of the top female athletes to play at FSU, was a three-sport star for the Bobcats from 1999 to 2003.

In field hockey, Faust was a two-time regional All-American and set school records for goals in a season (23), goals in a career (71) and points in a career (170).

As a senior, she was named to the NFHCA All-Academic Squad and was chosen to play in the NFHCA Division III North/South Senior All-Star game.

Faust helped lead FSU to a 43-28 overall mark and two appearances in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Tournament.

Faust continued her success on the basketball court, scoring 1,624 points and grabbing 888 rebounds in her career.

She ranks fourth on the FSU all-time scoring list and fifth on the rebounding chart.

Faust was selected to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference first team three times, earned All-ECAC and d3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region honors twice and was voted the AMCC Player of the Year as a sophomore.

Faust also played two seasons with the FSU lacrosse team and led the Bobcats with 53 ground balls and 38 forced turnovers as a senior.

Faust earned Frostburg State Female Athlete of the Year honors as a senior.

Faust joins former FSU football standout Marty Mood as the only Bobcat student-athletes to ever receive a NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Mood, a linebacker and tight end for the Bobcats from 1996-99, was awarded a $5,000 scholarship following his senior year.

"Kim was an excellent student-athlete here at FSU," said Bobcat Athletic Director Ralph Brewer. "She certainly deserves this honor from the NCAA."
