Frostburg State sophomore Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) has been named to the 2000 Astro Turf/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III South Region All-America team in an announcement made Monday.
Faust, who set a Bobcat single-season record with 22 goals and added eight assists for a team-high 52 points, helped lead FSU to an 11-7 overall record and their second straight Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship appearance. She scored the game-winning goal in Frostburg State's 2-1 first-round win over Swarthmore, giving the Bobcats their third-ever postseason victory and their first since 1987.
In the latest Division III national statistics, Faust was third in points per game (3.125) and fourth in points scored (52). Faust scored multiple goals in seven games this season, including a pair of hat tricks. The Bobcats were 10-3 in games in which she scored.
"Kim is certainly well-deserving of the honor," said Bobcat head coach Rita Hegeman. "She has good skill and a drive that can't be stopped. She's just a sophomore and has a lot of growth and potential for the future."
Faust and all other first-team regional selections will now be considered for national All-America honors.
