FROSTBURG, MD —
Frostburg State senior Kim Faust (Upper Dublin/Ft. Washington, Pa.)
has earned a pair of prestigious preseason basketball honors.
She is one of just 24 players named to the Women's DIII News Preseason All-America Team and has also been selected the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Preseason Player of the Year.
Faust, a 5-11 forward/center, is considered one of the top three players in the Great Lakes Region. She was named to the National Preseason All-America Team after earning preseason honorable mention honors a year ago.
Faust has led the Bobcats in both scoring and rebounding each of the last two seasons. Last year, she averaged 18.5 points and 10.6 rebounds and also led FSU with 53 steals and 16 blocks to earn first-team All-AMCC, second-team Eastern College Athletic Conference All-South Region and second-team D3Hoops.com All-Atlantic Region honors.
As a sophomore, Faust topped the Bobcats with 21.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while adding a team-high 51 steals. She was named the AMCC Player of the Year, and she took home second-team ECAC All-South Region and AMCC All-Academic Team honors as well.
Faust enters her final season ranked ninth on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,209 career points and eighth in rebounding with 687 career caroms.
The Bobcats, who look to rebound from last season's 8-18 (3-8 AMCC) finish, kick off the 2002-03 season by hosting the First Annual Jim Crawley Invitational November 23-24. The tournament will include Apprentice, Shenandoah and Wilson.
