ST. PAUL, MN —
Frostburg State junior Maria Ferguson (Fairmount Heights, Md./Laurel)
qualified for the finals of the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday afternoon at Macalester College.
Ferguson finished fifth in her heat with a time of 24.71 seconds and posted the ninth-fastest qualifying time. She will run in Lane 1 in Saturday's national championship race set for 4:20 p.m.
Ferguson will also look to advance to the finals of the 100-meter dash when she competes in qualifying heats on Friday at beginning at 7:10 p.m. The three heat winners and the next six fastest runners will move on to the finals on Saturday at 3:15 p.m.
Ferguson placed third in the 100-meter dash at last year's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 12.32 seconds to earn All-America honors.
