Field Hockey Beats Seton Hill in Penalty Strokes

GREENSBURG, PA— Freshman Sam Riley (Bethesda-CC/Bethesda, Md.) and junior Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) each made their penalty strokes, while junior goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) stopped all four strokes against her as the Bobcats prevailed 2-0 in penalty strokes against host Seton Hill College Wednesday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half the Griffins (3-5) got on the board when Heather Patton scored unassisted in the 52nd minute.

FSU (2-7) tied the game three minutes later when junior Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) scored off a pass from Riley.

Sophomore defender Morgan Whalen (Milford/Milford, Del.) had a big defensive save late in the second half to keep the score tied.

The two teams battled through two scoreless 15-minute overtime sessions before heading into penalty strokes

Cousin was stellar in goal for the Bobcats as she played the entire 100 minutes and made 16 saves.

Frostburg State returns to action Saturday when it hosts Goucher College at 1:00 p.m.
